Help needed urgently
Hi,

I was asked to assist a charity organization with their IT stuff.

They have a DVR system installed on one of the network machines. They are using NetVision V5.3.7

We are unable to access the Cameras from any other machine on the network, let alone from an android phone from a remote location, which is what they want to do.

I need assistance to set these things up.

I created a user on the system with manager's rights.

I tried from internet explorer on a remote machine using the IP and the 1280 port.
I assume it won't work on Firefox or Chrome unless i get IE TAB which I will once i get it working on IE.

I can't install the ActiveX control. I get unknown publisher, file was blocked etc... I tried all setting and suggestions I could find and it still does not work.

However, on the machine that the previous IT guy was using, although it looks like I do get the interface, nothing happens when I try to login.
The only visible difference is that on our system here, I do not see anything on the dropdownn under the password where on the demo it lists camera1, etc...

I am using windows 7.

Strangely enough, when I go to your demo online cams using IE and I click the login button, it works and I see the cams and this from a machine that does not allow me to install the activex when I try to access our system.

Please help

Humm...Not much support until now

Maybe I should try to be more specific or tackle one problem at a time...

We have the system working on one computer but we can't see it/access it from any other computer on the same network...

When I type in the IP of the machine from another computer(with the port 1280), it looks like I am in the right place since it tells me that it needs to install an ActiveX control. Although I try to play with the security settings like I read in many posts, it still does not work.

The good news is that we have one machine on the network that was used by the previous IT Guy that seems to have the ActiveX control installed for IE, and from that machine only, I do get to the NetVison interface. But when I try to login, either with the default admin username or the user that I created with manager permissions, nothing happens. Also, nothing is listed in the camera dropdown list.

I may have the wrong admin password(it might have been changed, but I know the password of the user that I created.
Do I need to give specific access to that new user or simply making it a manager is enough.

Do I need to do something else in the settings to say that the system should be accessible on the network?
I have checked the box that says PDA access already.

Ultimately, I don't car about local network access and that one machine would be good enough for us.
What they really want is to be able to access the system remotely for smart phones. But I figure that if I can't even access it locally on the same network, then I would be wasting my time to try remotely. Am I wrong?

I have installed the app on my android phone, but when I try to enter the IP of the machine it tells me login failed.

Which IP should I enter on the smart phone and do I need to open ports, forward ports, etc...

For now I would like to try to make it work locally just to make sure before I try the rest or tell them that we need a new system.

Thanks.

Thank you for your reply.

I just saw it today. I am in Montreal Canada. So I will contact Sales to get the latest version. I will then to try to read instructions to upgrade the system and make it work for us.

I will come back here if I need help.

Thank you.

Uninstalled the old version that I had and installed 5.76.

The setup was very simple and everything now works the way we want. Access from another computer on the network, and also from mobile devices.

It also works remotely after I forwarded the port 5100.

So my boss can now see me sleep at work when he is not there ;)

So we are very happy. Thank you!
